Dukkah is an Egyptian spice and ground nut mix. It is best known for being served with olive oil to dip bread in to. You can buy it pre-made, and there are many variations available, or you can quite easily make your own.

Ingredients

¼ cupAlmonds, finely chopped
2 TbspSesame seeds, toasted
2 tspFennel seeds (Main)
2 tspCoriander seeds
½ tspChilli flakes, (optional)
2 tspCumin seeds
¼ cupPistachios, finely chopped

Directions

  1. In a dry frying pan toast fennel, coriander and cumin seeds, then grind in a mortar and pestle.
  2. Mix with toasted sesame seeds, chili flakes (optional), almonds and pistachios. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Makes approximately ½ cup. Stored in an airtight container, it will keep for 3-4 weeks.
