One of the hallmarks of Nebraska football over the last several years has been the inability to win one-score games. Time and again, the Huskers would be close but just not close enough. Nebraska has played in 14 one-possession games over the last two years. Their record in those one-score games is 1-13. Thanks to Nebraska radio voice Gary Sharp for sharing that trivia on social media. If that’s not a perfect summation of the current state of Cornhusker football, I don’t know what is.

Nebraska lived up to its reputation on Saturday as the Huskers lost to Wisconsin in Lincoln by a score of 15-14. Nebraska only trailed for 35 seconds against their Big Ten West rival, but it was the final 35 seconds of the game, and once again, Nebraska fell short of finishing the job.

In his opening statement at his post-game press conference, Interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph spoke about the current group of seniors and what they’ve been through, not just this season but over the last 4+ years.

This is a tough one. To be in control of a game like that. I have to do a better job of getting them to close people out. That’s what’s going to happen with maturity and doing a better job. Take a hat off to these kids. Just a good character group. A group that’s not going to quit.

I feel for these seniors as they’ve given everything to the program. Nebraska will now prepare for a Black Friday game against Iowa with a chance to play spoiler. An upset over Iowa would prevent the Hawkeyes from winning the Big Ten West and playing for a Conference Championship on December 3rd. The kickoff between Nebraska and Iowa will be on Black Friday at 3:00 pm.

Nebraska has played 23 games, in the last 2 years. 14 have been one-possession games. They are 1-13. I don't care so close, so far or whatever. This is an unreal stat.

Nebraska officially has a role to potentially play on Black Friday. Spoiler. It’ll take what it can get.

Correction: Nebraska's TD ended a streak of 23 straight drives without a TD (not 21).

Thank you for your patience.

QB Casey Thompson on his decision to walk on senior day: “If I happen to be back, I’ll walk again next year.”

Thompson said he’s not decided on a sixth year in college. He has an undergraduate degree from Texas, and he’ll receive a Master’s degree next month from Nebraska. pic.twitter.com/tUY2hVy3Iw

Have we seen the last of Casey Thompson at Memorial Stadium? The 24-year-old went through Senior Day festivities, but a lot to be determined in the offseason could change his https://t.co/ZEOnWT2Pla
